SERVICE RULES

Terms of Use

These terms govern access to and use of CloseBook.

Last updated: 21 July 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using CloseBook, you agree to these Terms of Use and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. Do not use the service if you do not agree.

2. Purpose of the service

CloseBook is a recordkeeping and reconciliation tool for advances, expenses and temporary project funds. It helps users organize entries and produce reports.

CloseBook is not accounting, tax, legal, audit or financial advice. Reports are based on information entered by the user and must be independently reviewed where accuracy matters.

3. User responsibilities

4. Guest and registered accounts

Guest data is local to the browser and may be permanently lost. Registered accounts synchronize supported book data. Current free-account limits are five active books and fifty closed books. Limits and plan features may change with notice.

5. Availability and changes

The service may be changed, suspended or interrupted for maintenance, security, capacity or operational reasons. CloseBook does not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.

6. Data and backups

Users remain responsible for exporting and retaining backups. CloseBook does not currently store invoice or receipt files. A synchronized account is not a substitute for an independent backup.

7. Intellectual property

CloseBook and its software, branding and interface are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Users retain responsibility for and rights in the content they enter, subject to the processing needed to operate the service.

8. Suspension and termination

Accounts may be restricted or terminated for abuse, security risk, unlawful activity, material violation of these terms or operational necessity. Users may request account deletion through support.

9. Disclaimer and limitation

The service is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. CloseBook is not responsible for losses caused by incorrect user input, failure to maintain backups, browser-data deletion, lost email access, third-party outages or use of reports without appropriate review.

10. Changes to these terms

Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and its date. Continued use after an applicable update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
